Dear KPY Member,
Our State Senator, John Flanagan, recently sent a mailing to the community regarding the recent progress made towards cleaning up the Nissequogue River State Park. In this mailing, Senator Flanagan requested input from the community regarding our “vision” for the future of the park. It is a perfect opportunity to let the Senator and the Parks Dept know that we need ball fields for our kids.
One of the long-term goals of KPY is to secure football and baseball fields on the former hospital grounds which are under the jurisdiction of the NYS Parks Dept. In order for the Parks Dept to make any decisions about the use of that property, they must complete what is called a “master plan.” This master plan will determine the most appropriate potential uses of the park property. The Parks Dept has made it clear that they will not consider any capital improvements until a plan is approved.
Our goal, therefore, is to encourage the state parks department to develop this master plan and to incorporate ball fields into that plan. To that end, please respond to the Senator’s request and include the following message;
As a member of KPY, it is my desire to see ball fields in the park. Please ask the Parks Dept to move forward with a master plan that includes ball fields for our children.

Please also forward this message to your friends and family that live locally and encourage our entire community to respond.
